Abstract

This study investigates the use of library resources and services by nursing students of the College of Nursing, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH). It explores the various purposes for which students utilize the library, reviews related literature on academic library usage, identifies key challenges affecting effective utilization, and offers practical recommendations. The findings reveal that most students depend on the library mainly for examination preparation and assignment completion, while engagement with specialized resources such as electronic databases and evidence-based practice tools remains low. Major constraints identified include inadequate up-to-date collections, poor internet access, limited information literacy skills, and insufficient infrastructural facilities. The study concludes by recommending collaborative efforts among the college administration, library management, and academic staff to strengthen the library’s capacity to support learning, research, and the development of evidence-based nursing professionals.
