Technologies Usage in Classification and Retrieval of Information at Dennis Osadebay University Library, Asaba, Delta State.
Abstract
This study was designed for the application of information and communication technology (ICT) in the classification and retrieval of information at Dennis Osadebay University Library, Asaba. The study is a descriptive survey that employed an ex-post-facto design. A total of thirty-five library staff and fifty users constituted the sample for the study. The questionnaire was the major instrument used for data collection. Frequency counts and percentages were used for data analysis. The study reveals that the application of ICT enhanced collection management in the area of speedy and easy access to information. The constraints include an undependable power supply, a poor network, and inadequate ICT facilities. Recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.
